August 2011 End Of The Month Self Analysis – By Rylan Branch

Goin' Hollywood - Circa 2005

As it happens sometimes, while the calendar says it is Tuesday, my mind says it is Friday, and as I am looking to head over to the University Library to do some research, I got pulled into the past through an online conference which required that I open up the Photobucket galleries.

As inspired by the 9/11 interview with George W. Bush which led me to reflect on the past, these galleries stretch back to the year 2004 and tell an extremely interesting picture story which I am looking for ways to introduce for 2011, yet I guess it is best to start with this particular image that I use for my avatar here on PH and forgot was in full size in the Photobucket galleries.

Back in 2005 when I returned from an eight month visit to Atlanta GA, the first thing on my mind was to head to the scene in order to re-up on what was what. The name of the club was XES which has probably had at least 5 name changes since that year as is frequent in Hollywood, yet The Game seems to be eternal.

When we arrived at the event through some VIP connects that were initiated upon my return, we approached the bar area, and i saw this attractive female standing solo and for whatever reason, we got into a discussion.

Her story was that she was an artists on a local record label and was in the process of promoting herself at the event, which led to me sharing some additional insight in regards to what I have seen and experienced, yet I had not had the chance to purchase a drink before we began speaking, so when the brief chat was over and she was about to leave, she too saw that I had not had the chance to order, so she asked what I was drinking.

I had to think about it for a second because it (a drink) was not on my mind but she was the actual reason why I was in the bar area, and since she seemed intuitive enough to put it all together, she handed me the drink that she had just purchased that you see me holding in the image.

My partner who was with me decided to snap a photo and the rest is mystery.

The moral to the story?

Well, its as if taking those same set of actions is what I am called to do, as if in some otherworldly kind of way,holding in depth conversations with certain members of the opposite sex is my 9-5 occupation and The Creators plan for job creation.

 

Just a self analysis of one of many days and nights in the life of yours truly, for myself and others who may find it to be of some use and interest as
a different perspective to consider.

Some may have not had the opportunity to tune in to this groundbreaking interview on the National Geographic cable channel last night that will repeat again tonight at 10PM E.S.T., so to ensure all bases are covered, which is what lesson I learned and gained as valuable insight from watching the program, it is now here for your viewing pleasure/displeasure.

Some topics are so relevant, that putting my own spin on the subject matter takes away from the real value which is provided through simply having the information available to help individuals make better and more well informed decisions, so enough from me.

Kreayshawn & Rick Ross Camps Collide At The VMA’s – Who Is The Bigger Person?

I.Y.H.O. Who Is The "BIGGER PERSON"?

 

 

Between us as friends, I have to fess up and admit that I did not have the opportunity to view the MTV Video Music Awards last night as I was distracted by less important matters such as the exclusive George Bush 9-11 Interview which aired on the square cable channel National Geographic which is featuring a week long series on the subject.

As a remedy for being left out of the loop, I simply waited to see what the web pointed out as points of interest, and what I came across is the subject that motivated you to click on this post title, and while I am way behind and out of the loop in regards to Hip Hop Beef proceedings, this bit of pimpformation is in fact relevant as it points to some deeper cultural issues and codes that should and will be addressed.

Simply put, this news and video clip actually demonstrates the actual reason why Kreayshawn may have spoken ill of Rick Ross, which perhaps can now be justified.

My personal two cents?
Certainly.

If that (Kreayshawn) was my artitst,and she was generating as much revenue as she currently is in this slumping economy, and this type of situation was to present itself? Lets backup a few steps. I am certain that this situation would not have presented itself, as it required Rick Ross and his camp to be in The City Of Angels and travel to and from the event upon arriving to the city in the first place.

Anyhow, news is news, so we can charge it to the game and increased street credibility for Kreyshawn and loss for Ross.

COLUMBIANA- Starring Zoe Saldana Now Playing August 26, 2011

T.G.I.F. (Thank God It’s Freeday)

As has been known to happen from time to time, it appears that someone in the film industry circuit may have borrowed one of
my scripts and or gained some much needed creative inspiration from the content found within these walls thus adding even more value to what is being offered.

The name of this feature film is Columbiana, starring Dominican/Puerto Rican actress Zoe Saldana, playing the role of a super shero/villian in search of retribution.

A young woman, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin.

For those unaware, Zoe has aquired some impressive film credits including but not limited to her notable roles as

Uhura in the 2009 Srar Trek movie,

and as Neytiri in the highest box office grossing film in history Avatar.

 

While the film is already receiving lackluster reviews from critics, the value of the role and Zoe Saldana’s contributions lay in the fact that doors of opportunities have been opened for what is often classified as “ethnic” talent to star in roles as such as a central character similar to Angelina Jolie, and moving the film industry forward, past the Tyler Perry style typecast blocks that appear to be recurring in my opinion, way too frequently.

All we need now is more intricate and provocative storylines, and from the looks of it again, it appears that

Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since Jan. 17, resigned as chief executive of Apple Wednesday, saying he could “no longer meet” the duties and expectations of the job.

Interim CEO Tim Cook was immediately elevated to CEO, while Jobs, 56, will stay on as chairman of the board.

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know,” Jobs said in a letter to “the Apple community” that was released by the company. “Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Self Preservation – Today’s Topic Of Emphasis

Noun: The protection of oneself from harm or death, esp. regarded as a basic instinct in human beings and animals.

Greetings Earthlings!
The topic of today’s discussion is as listed in the title, and keeping it simple, it is simply a term that each can choose to dedicate as much of their time and energies into researching as one may see fit, and we can just use this as a thought initiation point.

The header  image came about while conducting some personal research on the subject, and while searching for an image to communicate the idea, I came across the one selected which was hosted on a page about Othello in the form of a character analysis and how it correlates to the concept of self preservation.

How does he show self preservation?

War is an act of self preservation of freedom and life.  Othello’s position as an army General reinforces this act of self preservation.  The entire play can be viewed as a war allegory. Both Othello and Iago are Generals, Iago as a psychological general and Othello is an army general.  Iago’s plans are executed like small battles against Othello in which he is victorious.

This is in my opinion an interesting perspective, and while I may only agree in part with the authors viewpoints, I will excersise some self preservation initiatives of my own by conserving keystrokes and continuing on with my own research and self analysis regarding today’s topic of emphasis.
