Praying underwater in Bohol
MANILA, Philippines – Adventurous Catholics now have another place of meditation and worship.
Bohol, a province known for its natural wonders, now has another tourist attraction – an underwater grotto at the Danajon reef in Bien Unido town.
Here, experienced divers can pray and pay their respects to 14-foot statues of Mother Mary and the Holy Child Jesus, which were installed 60 feet below sea level.
“(Divers) can pray underwater to have a moment of deeper reflection than those normally experienced, and be thankful (to God) for safely guiding (them) through all their diving adventures,” a statement from the mayor’s office of Bien Unido read.
It continued, “Because in diving, one is immersed in another amazing world where everyone can really appreciate God’s wonderful creation.”

Moral Of The Story (What Actually Happened Today)
Well, you see, what had happened was…….
Today, I decided to go to the local food court in the mall for my evening meal, and while I was in front of Macy’s there were some women walking in from the other direction who saw me, and one of them said something to me, so I asked her to please repeat, just to be sure that I heard what I thought so she repeated herself by asking “Do you need money for food?”
Now at first, I thought to myself about whether or not I looked like I needed money, and to her I may have, even though I actually had enough to begin with, but the way she asked seem to be a test upon my own way of thinking, because in actuality, the human part of me does need food and money for such said food while I Am here on the Earth, and I can become so consumed by my ventures that I at times will neglect to stop and eat.
I thought about what she said briefly, and responded by saying “actually, I do!”
She said “OK, then I will give you some, wait one moment please.”
She waited for what I believe to be her mother as an older woman to catch up, then she said that she had $5 dollars in her purse, then she took a few seconds and spoke to her mother and handed me $7 dollars, telling me that she had found 2 more dollars.
I said, “wow. thank you so much, what is your name?”
She laughed and said that her name was Marie.
I asked, “now Marie, how did you get to be so nice?”
She smiled again and said “well, The Lord tells me to be generous” while she was looking up.
I looked up along with her, and said “well, thank you for Marie then Lord!”
She laughed and said “ok, just be sure to pray for us.”
I responded by saying that I definitely would do so, and I could tell that she was Filipino and most likely Catholic by the way that she spoke and my familiarity with Filipino culture and customs, so I am following through with my commitment, by offering a prayer and thanks to both “The Lord” as well as Marie, and adding some imagery from the underwater devotional statues in the Philippines as listed above, to reconfirm that I am not alone in my own understanding of just how deep The Game of Life really is and can be, especially when it comes to matters of faith when put into action.
