Lionesses do the majority of the hunting for their pride, being smaller, swifter and more agile than the males, and unencumbered by the heavy and conspicuous mane, which causes overheating during exertion. They act as a co-ordinated group in order to stalk and bring down the prey successfully. However, if nearby the hunt, males have a tendency to dominate the kill once the lionesses have succeeded. They are more likely to share with the cubs than with the lionesses, but rarely share food they have killed by themselves. Smaller prey is eaten at the location of the hunt, thereby being shared among the hunters; when the kill is larger it often is dragged to the pride area. There is more sharing of larger kills, although pride members often behave aggressively toward each other as each tries to consume as much food as possible.

Both males and females defend the pride against intruders. Some individual lions consistently lead the defence against intruders, while others lag behind. Lions tend to assume specific roles in the pride. Those lagging behind may provide other valuable services to the group. An alternative hypothesis is that there is some reward associated with being a leader who fends off intruders and the rank of lionesses in the pride is reflected in these responses. The male or males associated with the pride must defend their relationship to the pride from outside males who attempt to take over their relationship with the pride. Females form the stable social unit in a pride and do not tolerate outside females; membership only changes with the births and deaths of lionesses, although some females do leave and become nomadic. Subadult males on the other hand, must leave the pride when they reach maturity at around 2–3 years of age.

Isis Unveiled

Isis Unveiled: A Master-Key to the Mysteries of Ancient and Modern Science and Theology, published in 1877, is a book of esoteric philosophy, and was Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s first major work and a key text in her Theosophical movement.

The work was originally entitled The Veil of Isis, a title which remains on the heading of each page, but had to be renamed once Blavatsky discovered that this title had already been used for an 1861 Rosicrucian work by W.W. Reade. Isis Unveiled is divided into two volumes. Volume I, The ‘Infallibility’ of Modern Science, discusses Occult science and the hidden and unknown forces of nature, exploring such subjects as forces, elementals, psychic phenomena, and the Inner and Outer Man. Volume II, Theology, discusses the similarity of Christian scripture to Eastern religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, the Vedas, and Zoroastrianism. It follows the Renaissance notion of prisca theologia, in that all these religions purportedly descend from a common source; the ancient “Wisdom-Religion”. Blavatsky writes in the preface that Isis Unveiled is “a plea for the recognition of the Hermetic philosophy, the anciently universal Wisdom-Religion, as the only possible key to the Absolute in science and theology.”

Being that this is the official beginning of the first week of the new 2012 Autumn season, the decision has been made to refocus our efforts towards this particular area of service.

As the 2012 political debate has shifted to an emphasis on the divisions amongst individuals and their class categories in regards to which percent group each one fits into, we can conclude that ultimately, the percieved differences in statuses is a direct result of the differences in self worth and self esteem as individuals can and will only shoot for a prize and level of status that they honestly in their hearts and minds expect to have success in attaining, and since human nature indicates that most individuals desire the best, regardless of whether or not they truly and honestly believe that they are deserving of it, we can do our little part on this end to assist individuals in increasing their self esteem and worth so that their expectations for the best or as close to it as possible for each, can now be authentically sought after and attained.

(T.G.I.F) Thank God It’s Free-day
Like they say in the hood, “EVERYTHING balances out, and you just have to give it some time”, so for those interested in such matters, today is the official beginning of the Autumn Fall season, and the time in which I work behind the scenes to get things in proper order.

The current focus is simply as it states in the title (checks and balances), and since I tend to conduct business that runs in alignment with natural order, a definition and diagram of the changing seasons scheduele is below for those who may find it useful.

Equinox

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth’s equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name “equinox” is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day have approximately equal length.
